In the Zone - Golden, CO

Last night, we hit In the Zone in an effort to truly try something new. This is a slightly intimidating sports bar about 10 minutes from our house. Jefe and I had tried it once in the past and we thought we saw an American version of J-Roc!

The exterior looks like you are walking into a cheap strip club (not that I have ever been in a cheap strip club before...). Once inside, it doesn't suck! There are a ton of televisions and we spent about an hour there watching for Grubby to show up on the big screen. To no avail.

The pizza? Well...I won't be going back for the pizza here. We ordered a medium pepperoni as our test. The crust tasted like it had a sourdough shell, the chef had added a great deal of black pepper which was not really to our liking, and Hope noted that there was very little cheese. Anything redeeming?

They didn't skimp with the pepperoni....

Pizza...

We have spent a great deal of time searching for the perfect pizza here in Colorado. Maybe we really are pizza snobs, maybe we are just spoiled but we can never seem to find quite the perfect pies like we have from back home in Maine.

Our favorite? It just may be from the night of our wedding when we ended up ordering a pizza and beer delivery during the late night festivities. Or it's the pizza from Al's which brings back so many fond Middle School Memories. I can't over look Mom's pizza which is now my pizza (home made).

Even Neil and Otto's from Middlebury, Vermont brings back some fond memories.

But those are memories. Living here in Colorado, we are constantly searching for the right pizza. Our tales shall tell the story of the lengths we go to find the right place for memorable eats. There is the tiny place on Main Street in Fairplay, CO. We try to stop here anytime we are out along 285 in South Park. There is the not so tiny place in Buena Vista, CO that we found filled with stuffed animals from past hunting trips and pizza so good it is sometimes tempting to drive the 3 hours just to eat there. There is Pazzo's...a mountain delight!

Maybe we can manage to help you find the right pie too.
